ESN Padova is part of Erasmus Student Network, which in turn is divided into ESN Italy, France, Poland, etc...
ESN Italia is the Italian network of University Associations that are part of the Erasmus Student Network International, a Pan-European Network established in Copenhagen in 1990 to promote student mobility and create an information and support service provided voluntarily by students, and directed to students departing or arriving on a scholarship within the LLP programs.
When ESN Italy was born
It was officially born on October 22, 1994, on the initiative of members of the oldest Italian sections (Siena, Parma, Pavia, Milan, Trento, Bologna, and Genoa) interested in creating a coherence of purpose and coordination of activities that would reproduce at the national level the organization of the larger international network.
What are his goals
ESN Italia, as an Italian Network of voluntary, non-partisan, non-denominational university associations offering its services to foreign visiting students at Italian universities and Italian entities interested in exchange programs, is itself a free, nonprofit, apolitical, non-denominational association, which pursues all the objectives expressed in the Statutes and Directives of the International Network of which it is a part. It therefore aims to foster the mobility of university students in Europe:
- By serving as a host and advisor to foreign students who are guests for a period of study at an Italian university (through a service ranging from finding housing to tutoring and organizing cultural and recreational events that promote the integration of the foreign student into the local university environment);
- Providing an up-to-date information service on European inter-university exchange programs;
- Developing a systematic evaluation of the same programs through the experience of students who have taken part in them.
How does ESN Italy operate?
Through the activities of the Italian sections, whose management and day-to-day administration are entrusted at the local level, modelled on the organization of the National Association and the International Association, to a Steering Committee, composed of the President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary and Local Representative, who act in agreement with the Members' Assembly. ESN members meet periodically at the local, national and international levels.
Who can be a member of an ESN association?
All students interested in exchange programs and of course former LLP Program students returning from a study abroad period. Indeed, they, with their experience, are best suited to provide help, advice and useful information to those who are planning to leave on an exchange program or are arriving from a foreign country. They are also best suited to the evaluation of the exchange project in which they took part.
Where is ESN Italy located?
ESN Italy currently has more than 50 active sections. Active sections offer regular counter-hours at the locations provided by the University's International Relations Offices or Foreign Relations Offices, with which they collaborate. There is one ESN section per university. Opening hours to the public vary according to local needs. The registered office is located at the International Educational Exchange Service of the University of Parma (Via Università, 12 - 43100 Parma)
ESN Italy is the body that coordinates all local sections located throughout the territory.
